El Centro cultural Het Wijkcentrum d’Oude Stadt<\/span> nos ha invitado a formar parte de su exposici\u00f3n textil <\/span>\u201cMujeres trabajando por la paz\u201d,<\/b><\/span> con el relato textil \u201c<\/span>Justicia, Dignidad y Paz\u201d(1)<\/span><\/i><\/b>, que un grupo de chilenas y chilenos tejimos colectivamente, el 07 de diciembre de 2019, en Casa Migrante Amsterdam, manifest\u00e1ndonos en apoyo a las y los ciudadanos chilenos, v\u00edctimas del uso desmedido de la fuerza y el irrespeto a los Derechos Humanos que estaban cometiendo agentes del Estado Chileno contra la poblaci\u00f3n, durante Estallido Social de octubre de ese a\u00f1o y los meses que le siguieron, que dej\u00f3 decenas de muertos, cientos de v\u00edctimas de la violencia estatal y sexual, m\u00e1s de 500 personas heridas con da\u00f1os oculares irreversibles, y cientos de encarcelamientos injustificados o desproporcionado de manifestantes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Esta exposici\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n contar\u00e1 con algunos trabajos textiles que hemos continuado haciendo en los <\/span>encuentros de arpilleras<\/span><\/i><\/a> organizados por nuestra Fundaci\u00f3n, con los que promovemos la asociatividad, la integraci\u00f3n y la creatividad de mujeres y disidencias Latinoamericanas e Hispanohablantes, en Pa\u00edses Bajos.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

(1) \u201c<\/span>Justicia, Paz y Dignidad<\/b><\/span>\u201d, fueron las palabras escogidas espont\u00e1neamente por un grupo de personas reunidas en diciembre de 2019, en Casa Migrante, \u00c1msterdam, para confeccionar este emotivo relato textil colectivo, con el que nos sumamos desde Pa\u00edses Bajos, a la convocatoria internacional de activismo textil “<\/span>Mil agujas por la dignidad<\/span><\/i>” de la artista visual chilena, Karen Rosentreter.<\/span><\/p>\n

Con \u00e9l, manifestamos nuestra gran preocupaci\u00f3n por las graves y sistem\u00e1ticas violaciones a los Derechos Humanos (DD.HH) que estaban cometiendo agentes del estado Chileno contra la poblaci\u00f3n, tras el estallido social del 18 de octubre de 2019 (acreditadas y documentadas por los principales organismos internacionales DD.HH), entregamos nuestro apoyo y convocamos la solidaridad internacional para exigir la restituci\u00f3n del Estado de Derecho y el respeto los Derechos Humanos en Chile.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Este encuentro tuvo lugar el 07 de diciembre de 2029, organizado en Pa\u00edses Bajos por la artista visual Mak \u00c1lvarez<\/strong><\/span> (artmak.cl), el Colectivo @Chile Despert\u00f3 Holanda<\/span>, y por nosotras, en lo que ser\u00eda el inicio de nuestra colectiva @Fundaci\u00f3n Di\u00e1spora Solidaria<\/span>, realiz\u00e1ndose en Casa Migrante Amsterdam.<\/span><\/p>\n

Desde el 2020, continuamos el trabajo de activismo y colectivismo textil, ofreciendo talleres y encuentros que hemos organizado como Fundaci\u00f3n, para promover la asociatividad, la creatividad, la integraci\u00f3n y el empoderamiento de las mujeres y disidentes latinoamericanas e hispanohablantes en Holanda, inspir\u00e1ndonos en la Arpillera<\/span><\/em>,\u00a0por el poder de su narrativa, as\u00ed como por la relaci\u00f3n hist\u00f3rica que esta t\u00e9cnica tiene con la defensa de los Derechos Humanos.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00bfQu\u00e9 es una Arpillera?<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

El nombre Arpillera<\/i><\/b><\/span>\u00a0(o jute) <\/i><\/b>se refiere a un tipo de g\u00e9nero, que se ocupa generalmente para envolver harina o trigo. Fue tomado como canva por primera vez por Violeta Parra, una de las m\u00e1s grandes artistas chilenas de la historia, cerca del a\u00f1o 1960.\u00a0 Ella nombr\u00f3 arpillera al trabajo textil que result\u00f3 de su creativa, expresiva y autodidacta forma de bordarlas. Pronto, la t\u00e9cnica fue enriquecida de las manos de las “Bordadoras de Isla Negra”, un colectivo de mujeres bordadoras de esta localidad costera de Chile.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

A mediados de los a\u00f1os 70, las Arpilleras adquirieron un valioso valor testimonial y se convirtieron en verdaderos “peri\u00f3dicos textiles”, contando la verdad sobre la defensa de la vida, la b\u00fasqueda de la verdad y la justicia, por parte de la Asociaci\u00f3n de Familiares los miles de Detenidos Desaparecidos de la dictadura militar de Pinochet (1973-1990), atrevi\u00e9ndose a contar lo que los medios oficiales no quer\u00edan contar. Hoy, esta t\u00e9cnica se extiende y enriquece por toda Am\u00e9rica Latina, desde Chile a M\u00e9xico, de la mano de activos colectivos de mujeres, bordadoras y difusoras, que siguen tejiendo historias, contando sus vivencias, sus sue\u00f1os, su resistencia y luchas, as\u00ed como sus anhelos de dignidad, igualdad, justicia social y paz.<\/em><\/p>\n

Textile art exhibition “Women working for peace”.\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The cultural center Het Wijkcentrum d’Oude Stadt<\/span> has invited us to be part of their textile exhibition “Women working for peace”<\/span>, with the textile work “Justice, Dignity and Peace”<\/span>(1), that a group of Chilean women and men weaved collectively, in December 2019, in Casa Migrante Amsterdam, demonstrating for the restitution of the rule of law, after knowing of the serious human rights violations committed by agents of the Chilean State against the population during the Social Outbreak of October of that year and the months that followed, which left dozens of people dead, hundreds of victims of state and sexual violence, more than 500 people with irreversible eye injuries, and hundreds of imprisonments of protesters.<\/span><\/p>\n

This art exhibition will also include some of the textile works that we have continued to make in the Arpilleras Workshops<\/a> organised by our Foundation, with which we promote the associativity, integration and creativity of Latin American and Spanish-speaking women and dissidents in the Netherlands.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The exhibition is organised by the cultural centre Het Wijkcentrum d’Oude Stadt, in collaboration with Casa Migrante Amsterdam.<\/span><\/p>\n

(1) “Justice, Peace and Dignity”<\/strong><\/span>, were the words chosen spontaneously by a group of people who gathered on December 7th, 2019, in Casa Migrante, Amsterdam, to make this emotional collective textile story, with which we joined from the Netherlands to the international call for textile activism “A thousand needles for dignity” of the Chilean visual artist, Karen Rosentreter.<\/span><\/p>\n

With it, we express our big concern for the serious and systematic violations of Human Rights (HR) being committed by agents of the Chilean state against the population, after the social outbreak of October 18, 2019 (accredited and documented by major international human rights organisations), we give our support and call for international solidarity to demand the restoration of the rule of law and respect for human rights in Chile.<\/span><\/p>\n

This meeting was organised in the Netherlands, at Casa Migrante Amsterdam, by visual artist Mak Alvarez<\/strong><\/em> (<\/span>artmak.cl), the Collective @Chile Despert\u00f3 Holanda<\/em><\/span><\/strong>, and by us, in what was the beginning of our collective @Fundaci\u00f3n Di\u00e1spora Solidaria<\/em><\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Since 2020, we have continued the work of activism and textile collectivism, offering workshops, encounters and meetings as a Foundation, to promote associativity, creativity, integration and empowerment of Latin American and Spanish-speaking women and dissidents in the Netherlands, inspired by the Arpillera<\/em><\/strong><\/span>, for the power of its narrative, as well as the historical relationship that this technique has with the defence of Human Rights.<\/p>\n

\u00bfWhat is an Arpillera?<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

The Arpillera<\/span><\/strong> <\/em>(or jute) refers to a type of cloth, usually used to wrap flour or wheat. It was first taken as a canva by Violeta Parra, one of the greatest Chilean artists in history, around 1960.\u00a0 She named the textile work that resulted from her creative, expressive and self-taught embroidery arpillera. Soon, the technique was enriched by the hands of the “Bordadoras de Isla Negra”, a collective of women embroiderers from this coastal town in Chile.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0In the mid 70\u2019s the Arpilleras became true \u201cTextil newspapers\u201d that told the truth\u00a0 which the official media did not want to tell, about the search for truth, justice and the defence of life, by the Association of Families of the Detained-Disappeared of the civil-military dictatorship of Pinochet (1973-1980). <\/span><\/p>\n

Currently, this technique has been disseminated and enriched throughout Latin America, by the hand of women\u2019s collectives and artists who continue to weave stories, narrating their experiences, dreams and desires for dignity, equality, social justice and respect for nature, promoting peace with needles, fabrics and threads.<\/span><\/p>\n
